The Sharing Out Loud Podcast

Looking for a new listen that combines the serious with the fun? One that offers REAL stories of hard life shit with educational information? Look no further than SHARING OUT LOUD, a podcast hosted by a sober woman (ME!) who got tired of staying silent about her alcoholism and sobriety, and frankly, everything else in life. A woman who spent so much of her life being told she was "too much," "too aggressive," "too loud," and "polarizing," that she never allowed herself to be 100% true to who she was, until now. She decided it was time to start SHARING OUT LOUD, and when she did everything changed. Take a listen below, or on APPLE and Spotify, you won't be disappointed!

My story from alcoholism to recovery.

A little over a year ago I recorded an episode for the Air Hug Community with Judy Arazoza. That episode was all about my alcoholism... at the time I was almost 3 years sober but outside of a few friends and family, and my AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) family, I had told NO ONE. I was "in the closet" about my addiction for many reasons but when Judy asked if I would share my story, I threw caution to the wind. I put my big girl panties on and went for it! And then felt sick to my stomach for days, weeks... what would people think of me? Would I lose friends? The very opposite happened. Take a listen below and be sure to check out the Air Hug Community Podcast with Judy! She is absolutely amazing!

This episode is not intended to diagnose or treat addiction. And it is not associated with any programs that diagnose or treat addiction.

No wonder she's writing a book!

Meet Kristi Tanner, a badass mom of 4 who went from blackout alcoholic to recovery and divorce coach.

Meet Kristi Tanner, a badass divorced mom of 4 (all under 10!) and recovering alcoholic turned recovery coach and divorce coach. This episode was so good we had to record it in 2 parts, and even then we still didn't get it all in.

If you think you are alone in your drinking or marriage gone horribly wrong, think again. Kristi's story is like so many other moms -- yes her drinking started before she had her babies but once she had kids she joined that secret mom's society where you develop the mindset that you "need" alcohol to "deal" with your kids... instead of moms helping other moms to cope with the hard parts of parenting (and there are LOTS), drinking was encouraged! At birthday parties, at playdates, you name it...  And in addition to coping with young children all so close in age, her marriage was falling apart.

Listen now to hear her jaw-dropping story in 2 parts! Part 1 drops Wednesday, and part 2 drops Thursday.

You can find Kristi on Instagram @mocktailmommy and on her website: www.mocktailmommylife.

If you are looking for help with your recovery from alcohol, Kristi is a certified coach that can support you in person or virtually. If you are in need of support with divorce, Kristi has been through it all and has gone through an extensive certification to coach others.

Kristi Tanner Part 2! When it all fell apart...

This episode dives deeper into Kristi's divorce and how because of what she went through she decided she wanted to help other women.

Kristi wasn't allowed to "bare it all" because of an agreement she signed with her ex, but I am here to tell you that her divorce was AWFUL, and in my opinion, the courts failed her. The entire system failed her. That being said, Kristi has PREVAILED! She is killing it as a single mom and as a businesswoman. She is the epitome of not allowing her past to define her but to fuel her.

From Kristi:

"This is all about being free.

Being free from the past and judgment. My experiences led me to a path of helping other women find their own empowerment and love for themselves, in, through, and past difficult circumstances.

Becoming a Certified Recovery Coach as well as a Certified Divorce Coach has been a vessel to do just that, authentically and fearlessly."

Judy Arazoza Part 2. How a conversation with a family member about their disordered eating journey made her realize her own...

TRIGGER WARNING! If this episode triggers you in any way please take a pass. Listen to another episode or stay tuned for the next. XOXO.

I am so very honored that Judy decided to come out and talk about her journey with food and what she has recently realized is disordered eating. Disordered eating is not an eating disorder, it isn't bulimia and anorexia. Where an eating disorder is a clinical diagnosis, disordered eating refers to abnormal eating patterns that do not meet the criteria for an eating disorder diagnosis. Someone with an eating disorder may exhibit disordered eating behaviors, but not all people with disordered eating will be diagnosed with an eating disorder.

After my first interview with Judy, we stayed on the phone for a while longer and she so bravely admitted to me that she was in a 12-step program to work on the way she thinks about food. While her years of being a professional bodybuilder were rewarding, she, unfortunately, developed a negative relationship with food that she couldn't shake even after retirement from competition. I would venture to say that most of us think that any kind of negative relationship with food is for young people, or that it starts when you're young and that is simply not the case.

Take a listen and if you find it helpful, share it with others who might be going through something similar, This is why it is so important to SHARE OUT LOUD. We help others by sharing our experiences.

You can find Judy on Instagram @judy_arazoza or on her website at https://gratefulfitness.com/

Let's Talk MENOPAUSE with Occupational Therapist and Functional Wellness Practitioner, Jen DeYoung!

Are you experiencing BRAIN FOG? Mood swings? Hot Flashes? Weight Gain? General feelings of things just being off? Then this episode is for you! Don't think you have to be IN menopause for you to start experiencing symptoms. In fact, you could be 10 years away from actual menopause (or more, eek!) so now is the time to start taking care of your health with someone who has an actual education and background in this area (not all "lady docs" do nor do all health and wellness/fitness people).

A little more about Jen:

At 37, I stopped taking the pill but rarely had a menstrual cycle after that and I, simply put, just felt "unwell." It dawned on me that maybe I was going through some kind of early menopause and that’s why I was feeling so terrible! My traditional medical doctors ran my blood labs to check my hormone levels, but ultimately, the labs came back “normal.” I felt so deflated, even more so because my doctors could offer nothing much more than antidepressants. I felt they gave up on me — there was little empathy and no reassurance that they would work with me to get to the bottom of it.

At that moment something in me changed and I knew I had to take charge of my own health, so I set out on a long and exhausting path to solving my health mystery. I learned that not only could my overall health be better by implementing the use of digestive enzymes, supplements, probiotics, and specific food combinations, my menopausal symptoms could be influenced for the better as well! But I also had to truly understand the root cause of what was triggering my issues because, without that, these solutions were still just a band-aid. This is when I became a true student of Functional Medicine.
As time went on and I engaged with holistic, functional practitioners and further testing, I learned that my perimenopausal symptoms had been legit for a while, but also deeply connected to stress levels, and underlying autoimmune and gut issues (all of these conditions can have similar symptoms). With an understanding of the body’s interconnections, my unique patterns, and taking the right steps, I’ve been able to make the positive changes in my life needed to heal and live a full and healthy life (yes, even in menopause)!

If you are suffering from ongoing health issues and frustrated with the limitations of traditional medicine, or you are being told to simply take hormones and “deal with your menopause symptoms,” I am here to help because you deserve a happy, healthy life!

Suzi Freeman, founder of the Elite Minds Academy, a mental health educational mentorship program for teens AND their parents.

Today we talk Teen Suicide with Suzi Freeman, owner/founder, of the Elite Minds Academy. Suzi is committed to empowering the next generation with the skills and knowledge they need to maintain positive mental and emotional health.

Her mentorship and training programs focus on cultivating self-care mastery and emotional durability, helping to mitigate the challenges that can arise from mental health issues, and laying the foundation for success in all areas of life.

By also training families in mental health awareness and suicide prevention, she is building a community that is prepared to support each other and prevent a crisis. She also has a program where she trains in schools, both speaking to teachers as well as students. Every school should be spending $ to implement programs, I mean, look at the stats! Over the past five years, suicide has been the second-leading cause of death for people ages 15-19 in the United States—second only to accidents. It might seem convenient or tempting to blame youth suicides on one headlining perpetrator—social media, the COVID-19 pandemic, bullying, or substance abuse, for instance—but the reality is much more complicated. It involves location, race, and socioeconomic status, among other compounding factors. AND even more disturbing, the age of suicidal thoughts and attempts keeps getting younger, with the newer age starting at just age 6.

A PERSONAL bi-polar journey with Kate Eldean, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).

Everyone needs to listen to this episode. Whether you are dealing with a bipolar diagnosis yourself, know someone who is, or know someone you suspect needs help, every human can benefit from listening to Kate's story.

This is the first time EVER that Kate is sharing her 12-year journey with Bipolar 1 disorder. It takes guts, FAITH, and generosity to "come out" with a mental illness but if we don't share our personal stories Kate and I both agree that we are doing a disservice to people in need. NO ONE IS PERFECT and even licensed professional counselors deal with their own personal issues. There is nothing more real than Kate's story and I am just so grateful to her for coming on the podcast.

More about Kate:
Kate Eldean is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) as well as a Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in Trauma Recovery, EMDR, Neurotherapy, and EFT for Couples. She is licensed in SC, CA, and soon will be licensed in Michigan!

Kate is also an author and co-founder of the Gracie Brave book and Foundation. Gracie Brave was created by Katie and her mom to inspire and empower children and families to find hope and healing from depression and other emotional challenges.

Gracie Brave is the art of connection and community. Gracie Brave is a catalyst for breaking down the stigma of mental illness and helps families discover hope, healing, and freedom.

In her spare time, Kate loves running, surfing, boating, doing cross-cultural missions in East Africa, and many arts and crafts!

NOTE: When Kate talks about medications, it is important to note that she is medication-resistant. THIS EPISODE IS NOT MEANT TO TREAT MENTAL ILLNESS or recommend medications, it is simply about awareness. Please consult your doctor if you feel you need help.

She's 6 years sober! Meet Anna Malus Kitzmann: entrepreneur, HEALER, podcaster, mother, positive vibes spreader, and a sober badass!

When I first met Anna she was a drinker, but so was I, only I think I might have hidden it a little better, or not🙄. I thought she might have a problem but she was(is) younger than me and who was I to judge how much people drank? I mean, we worked in advertising and alcohol was a part of our daily life. Parties in the office, happy hours, parties for Holidays, entertaining clients, you name it, there was ALWAYS a reason to drink.

I won't give the whole story away here but 6 years ago Anna just decided she was done with alcohol, and just like that, she was. It wasn't without work or self-reflection, but she did it on her own, in her own way (no AA but therapy for sure!). After giving up booze amazing things started to happen... she founded a non-profit (The Good Campaign), started her own green packaging company (GOOD GOODS!), launched a podcast (In The Good Company), and just recently, became a certified PRANIC healer! Oh and yeah, she is one amazing mom to 2 girls as well!

CONGRATULATIONS MY DEAR FRIEND! I am so incredibly proud of you and all that you have accomplished. Thank you for celebrating your 6 years with me🥰.

Take a listen for some absolutely incredible inspiration.

"Happy Healthy Mommy of 4" - this episode will tear at your heart. Everyone has a story they might not be sharing with the world...

Meet Wendy Green! This conversation was NOT what I was expecting😲. Who I thought I was going to talk with was a top 10 (in her age group) Spartan Racer, and she is! But what was shared/uncovered was a story of one woman's resilience...  teen mom putting herself through college, PPD (postpartum depression), suicidal thoughts, rocky marriage... until one day she heard about a mom's walking group. And it saved her life.

Wendy is such an amazing woman. The conversation was so easy -- it felt like we had been friends our whole lives. I am so very humbled she chose to SHARE OUT LOUD. That she chose to share with me, AND all of you.

Please share this episode with anyone you know who might be at the end of their rope, with any moms you know who are suffering in silence wondering if they will ever feel like themselves again after having children, OR think they can't take time out for themselves. This episode will help a lot of women❤️.

From Bar Stool Babe to Sober Baddie!

I "met" Kelly through Instagram (of course) and what a cool conversation this was! You might be thinking, "yet another mom with an alcohol addiction" but that just says you don't know what an epidemic this is! AND how freaking hard it is to overcome. Kelly has done the work! Not only has she done it, she continues to do it because getting sober and staying sober is an effort and she doesn't take it for granted.

Everyone's sober story is a little different (sometimes A LOT) so I never say to myself, "oh, I can skip this, I have heard it before". Kelly, while she experienced an idyllic upbringing, experienced some hard-core trauma that would change the trajectory of her life...

I encourage you to listen and see what can be learned from Kelly. I am so happy she was willing to come on the pod, honored in fact.

Please follow Kelly @
kelz_living_well on instagram for raw posts and lots of encouragement as well!

Meet Kiki Hurwitt. Think you can't survive the hard stuff? Think again. How one woman/young mom, was widowed at 28, survived a flesh-eating bacteria at 30, battled alcohol abuse & depression, and yes, MORE, to being the badass she is today at 53!

Another unexpected conversation... funny how that happens when two women get together and share their stories💖.

Kiki Hurwitt is a powerhouse I found on the gram. I reached out to her because, at 53 (my age), I was dying to know how she transformed herself into the healthy, happy, BUFF woman she is today! I wanted to know the story behind the face I saw staring out at me in her before photos from 2020. I wanted to know what prompted her to take control of her health, over her life!

I wasn't prepared to learn that Kiki had an unhealthy relationship with alcohol and
WHY/HOW it started. I wasn't prepared for most of the conversation, actually, but this is exactly why I started the podcast -- for women to share their stories of overcoming adversity, to share their stories of rising from the ashes because if we share our stories, we will (hopefully) inspire others, we will give people hope where they might not have had it before.

My new motto is "If Kiki can do it, so can I"! She is just a ray of light -- her happiness is infectious -- she is quite literally pure joy. Thank you Kiki, for honoring us with your story, for trusting me, someone you didn't know, to have this beautiful conversation.

While she isn't "advertising" it, Kiki has started nutritional coaching for women (she is not coaching for exercise but she can send you some recommendations to pair with the nutrition - her stepdaughter, Claire, I hear is pretty great!😘), so after listening to Kiki's story and checking out her Insta page, should you be interested, send her a DM!

You can find Kiki on the gram @

Please share this episode, and all episodes, with all of the women in your life who need some inspiration to never give up.

Don't believe in mindset? What if you were diagnosed with Graves Disease, pre-diabetes, and anti-fiscal lipids syndrome? Would you stay positive? Tanya did, and then some! Welcome the beautiful, tenacious, DETERMINED, Tanya Albert!

About Tanya:
Tanya started her medical journey in her early 20s when she was diagnosed with Graves disease (an autoimmune disorder that can cause hyperthyroidism or overactive thyroid). Imagine being a teacher and being unable to sit through a staff meeting because you're so jittery you can't physically stay still, or having a metabolism that is so fast you can't eat enough to stay at a healthy weight which in turn also causes extreme fatigue. Imagine trying to hide your diagnosis for fear of what others might think or worse, say about you behind your back. Imagine what this does to a person's mental health -- hint, it isn't great...

On top of a diagnosis like Graves, imagine having a family history of such extreme diabetes that family members have lost limbs because of it and you do everything you can to fight your DNA only to find out that you too are pre-diabetic. Well, you can make a decision to cry and give up or scream a rallying cry and go all-in to ensure you get (and stay) healthy so you can lead a beautiful life as a mother, a wife, a daughter, a friend, and as a coach.

You can find Tanya living her best life on Instagram! Be sure to follow her for smiles and inspiration, and if you need some accountability with your health, Tanya is absolutely there to help! Just send her a PM😘.

Author, Yogi, Deep Thinker, AND she's SOBER! Meet Alexandra Boss!

You know how sometimes things are just meant to happen? That is how Alexandra and I met. Alexandra works with a woman I have known since I was 4 years old (Nicole Rhea) and one day the two happened to do a ride-along together (for business), and Alexandra told Nicole about her sobriety... and Nicole mentioned my podcast and then reached out to me and said Alexandra and I had to connect. So yeah, that's what I mean... some things things are just supposed to happen.

In this beautiful conversation Alexandra speaks about her sobriety - how she got there, how challenging it can be to be young and not drink (alcohol is everywhere!), but most importantly, how incredible it is to wake up on a weekend and go to an early yoga class (no hangover!), how much clearer she thinks, and basically how much better she navigates life.

So, she's an author? Yes! And she created a character about an alcoholic before she thought she had a drinking problem...

About THE GAME:
Alyssa has seemingly hit rock bottom. She has to do community service, and she is unemployed. When she meets a woman who tells her how she can make some money by never leaving her home, and it has the potential for bonuses, Alyssa is intrigued. The Game is played with a high-tech headset and controller, and it allows her to see, taste, hear and smell the world inside. She can even feel pain, and pleasure. As Alyssa begins to play, she can’t help but wonder if this is the answer to her prayers….though things aren’t always as they seem.

A REVIEW:
This was one of those books that I was so excited to receive. I was worried it would be a little too much like another popular game book, but while similar, it was different – and I it a lot. It is written well and is a fast read. The question that the book focuses on is what would you do for money? It’s an interesting concept, except in the case of the book you’re doing them in a virtual world. However, when you are in the game, it feels so real and your ingrained personality traits and morals don’t necessarily go away. This is something that our main character struggles with, and honestly, I would too. But she can’t just quit because she would have to pay back so much money, so she finds work arounds that aren’t necessarily pleasant. The ending, oh the ending. It’s written in a way that you as the reader can make inferences, but I would love to know how the author solves it.

Alex Bos has created an impulsively readable novel that kicks off right into the action. The novel is short and I read it all in one sitting. I was engrossed, waiting to see how Alyssa's choices might go bad. I was shocked at the cliffhanger and I am ready for the second book!

Everything about the premise is interesting and Bos' prose is simple, yet effective in conveying Alyssa's dilemmas and state of mind. I always find dystopian narratives such as this just grab me by the shirt and don't let go until I plow through them!
